Day 1: Arrival late afternoon in Yizhou Fossil & Geology Park (D)

Day 2 and 3: Visit of the Yizhou Fossil & Geology Park (B, L, D)

Daily activities:

• Paleontology related:
  • Excavation of fossils with our quarry specialists
  • Visit of the museum and its very rare collections...
  • Laboratory work in order to prepare the fossils for their presentation in the museum
  • Small conference organized on the environment
  • Learn how to shape dinosaurs with our French specialist, well known in the world of museums. If the group is large enough, it is possible to work on a fossil resin modeling so that it can be brought back to the classroom
  • Peruse a library of over 1,000 books (for adults and children) in several languages about paleontology or archaeology for visitors use
• Relaxation related:
  • Sports activities: badminton, table tennis, small basketball court, small football field, boats on the lake, bowling alley, and a mini golf course to be completed by May 2012
    
  • Walks on foot or jogging in the hills and roads near the museum, around the lake and rivers
  • Enjoy the stars at night (sky incredibly clear compared to Beijing)
  • 60-seat theater, fully available to visitors, with a collection of over 500 movies
    
  • Computers with internet available to visitors
• Outside of the park:
  • A very ancient temple to visit less than 2km away from the museum
  • Visit of the local village
  • Horseback riding / archery
    

Specific activities by age bracket:

• For very young children, there are books about dinosaurs to color.
• For children in kindergarten and primary school, they can paint the plaster casts they made earlier in the lab with our specialist, which is a lot of fun for them!
  For older kids, they will only make their own cast and not paint it, as painting does not tend to interest them as much!
• From primary school until secondary school, we organize a treasure hunt (or orienteering) per group, where they discover fossil casts, step by step until they find the last one. The winner is the team that finds the Apeyornis' egg--the largest egg of the world--buried somewhere in our park.
• For high school students, we will also often take a walk along the river and hike up the hill, which would be too tiring for children.
  We also explain in much more detail the subject of geology and the theme of environmental protection.
• Night quiz for any age bracket:
  We organize a night quiz in the big yurt, on various themes that revolve around history, sports, geology, paleontology and China in general. We adapt the difficulty level of the questions according to age.

Accommodation

The accommodation is in brand new Yurts, inside of the park. Each Yurt contains from 2 to 6 adults, or up to 8 kids. There are 8 Yurts, plus a very large one, which is usedas the restaurant during mealtimes, and as a playroom for the rest of the time. The park provides mattresses and sleeping bags to every person.

Meal plan

The price includes all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). You will be served your breakfast in the big library with a grandiose view on the park and the lake. Lunch and dinner are served in the large yurt.
